How to play Fire Truck Dispatch
You are the fire dispatcher of Pinebrook. Fires pop up around town, and your job is to get the right fire truck there fast, put the fire out and keep your trucks full of water. Maya, the dispatcher who trains you, explains each step in the game too.
The basics, step by step
Send a truck to the fire
Drag from a fire truck (or its card at the bottom of the screen) onto the fire. You can also tap the truck, then tap the fire. The truck drives there with its siren on and traffic pulls over.
Aim the hose
When the truck arrives, press and drag across the flames to aim the water. The water puts out whatever it hits. If you leave it alone, the crew sprays the nearest flames by itself, only slower.
Move closer if you must
Each truck can only reach flames inside its white ring. If the fire is out of reach, drag the truck to a road closer to it.
Refill the tank
Tanks run dry. Send the truck to the lake, a pond or the river, or back to the hydrant at the station, and it fills up again. Foam trucks refill only at the station.
Earn money and buy trucks
Every fire you put out pays. Spend the money at the truck dealer in your station on new trucks, and in the garage on upgrades such as a bigger tank or a faster engine. Old trucks wear out, so keep them repaired.
Unlock the town
Put out enough fires and grow your fleet, and the Mayor hands you the next district: Downtown, the Factory District, the Mines, the Airport and finally the Wilderness. Each plays differently and needs the right trucks.
Survive the catastrophes
Every so often something big goes wrong in town. A catastrophe comes in three stages, and you need the right trucks in the right places to stop it before buildings are lost.
Controls
Everything works with a finger on a phone or tablet, or with a mouse on a computer.
- Select a truck
- Tap or click it, or its card at the bottom. Double-tap to pick it and every truck near it.
- Send a truck
- Drag from the truck to a fire, the lake, a road or the station. Or tap the truck, then the place. Right-click also sends it.
- Aim the hose
- Press and drag across the flames near a truck that has arrived.
- Move the map
- Drag the ground. Keyboard: WASD or the arrow keys.
- Zoom
- Pinch, or scroll the mouse wheel. Keyboard: Q and E.
- Pause and menu
- Esc or P.
Tips from the station
- Send the closest truck first. A small fire caught early is cheap; a fire left alone spreads to the next house and can even set passing cars alight.
- Aim the hose yourself: a truck you steer puts out flames about twice as fast as one left to spray on its own.
- Watch the water gauge on each truck's card and send it to refill before it runs dry in the middle of a fire.
- Use the right tool: ladders and helicopters for towers, foam for chemicals and jet fuel, 4x4s for the dirt roads in the Mines and the Wilderness.
- Keep your trucks repaired in the garage. Worn trucks break down more often.
- Catastrophes call for special trucks: foam, 4x4s, helicopters and ladders. Build a mixed fleet as the districts open.
